Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden is a comprehensive botanical garden jointly established by the municipal government, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the State Forestry Administration, covering an area of 207 hectares.
Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden takes the mission of studying plants and spreading them to the public. Through the construction of unique habitats of plants, the collection, planting and landscaping of characteristic plants, it has formed rich and beautiful plant landscapes and good ecological environment with different styles, distinct seasons and different scenery steps. It provides an important place for the general public to visit, rest and plant science popularization education. It is not only a national 4A tourist attraction, Shanghai City and the national science popularization education base, but also a special science popularization venue in Shanghai City. It is one of the most important scientific research bases for plant research in China, an important platform for scientific research exchanges between China and the world, and an important window for Shanghai to show science and technology and culture to the world.
The park consists of four functional areas: central exhibition area, plant conservation area, five continents plant area and peripheral buffer area. Among them, the Tropical Flower and Fruit Pavilion consists of a style garden, a palm square and an economic plant area; the Sand Plant Pavilion collects and displays sand plants from Australia, Africa and America; and the Rare Plant Pavilion collects and displays strange types of plant survival and evolution, such as tropical rain forest phenomena, carnivorous plants, cycads, ferns, orchids and pineapples, etc. The whole greenhouse group is cleverly planned and the landscape is unique, which has become an unforgettable scenic spot in Shanghai.
