The sky, that touch of sunset

I like the water in my hometown very much, that touch of sunset.

When the sunset covered the river, the river was beating with golden ripples. Reeds stretch their tender arms in the setting sun; waterfowl play on the water surface, or in groups or pairs. One moment they spread their wings and flew deep into the reeds, one moment they sank under the water, and one moment they surfaced far away. "Breeze Xu to, water waves do not rise", is Su Dongpo's water rhyme;"hot melt gold, evening clouds combine", is Li Yi 'an sunset.

Just as the river was throbbing with golden ripples, music started playing in the square. In a square by the river, whenever this time, a group of uncles and aunts, dressed in Chinese training clothes, accompanied by cheerful music, lined up, neatly twisted waist, stretched arms. They also make up the landscape by the water.

Accustom to this season, accompanied by the elderly dance music running, that music is very rhythmic, running with this beat, the pace is very relaxed, but also very cheerful.

Right on the edge of this square is a row of marble seats, very smooth. People who exercise by the river love this place to rest. In the place I passed every day, I happened to find a grandfather from my hometown, known as "Lord Rong" in our hometown, sitting in a row chair, very satisfied to watch this group of dancing teams. I wonder what this old man is doing here.

"Lord Rong" is 95 years old, the oldest male citizen in our village. Strong body, loud voice, walk, pace light. Everyone said that this old man was getting younger and younger. When he was young,"Master Rong" joined the local anti-Japanese work in our area and served as the leader of the district armed forces. Establish local party organizations, mobilize young people to join the army and raise military rations. Led by him, a large number of young people from our village joined the team.

When the enemy attacked Huaihai,"Lord Rong" went south with the army and fought all the way to Fujian and Zhejiang. After liberation, he stayed in Zhejiang to work. And Grandma Rong of her hometown raised her children and served her in-laws alone. At that time, most of the cadres who went south had wives at home. Later,"Rong Ye" had a new home. I don't know now whether it is due to policy or personal feelings. Many cadres who go south divorce their original wives in their hometown and marry another in the south. The wife and children still have to live in the old home. "Lord Rong" is also like this.

My mother mentioned more than once the scene of "Lord Rong" coming home. In winter, the west wind is cold, snowflakes are flying, and the whole village is sleeping on a snowy night. In her sleep, Grandma Rong seemed to hear someone banging on the door. It had been a long time, but there was still a banging sound. Finally, when she got up, she saw a man with snow hanging from his hair and eyebrows in the dim light. He was holding a child in his arms. The child was twitching and moaning softly from the cold. Grandma Rong almost didn't have time to look at him, but her eyes were fixed on the child. "Oh, this child is freezing!" Cover the child with a cotton-padded jacket. Just as he was about to ask the person, the person knelt down and said," Son, you've suffered!" Grandma Rong was stunned." My God, you…" Grandma Rong was speechless.

Later, I learned that "Rong Ye""made a mistake" in the south and his daughter-in-law was forced to remarry. He had to take the child and flee back to his hometown. Our barren hometown, our simple villagers, especially the kind granny Rong finally accepted the person who missed and did not want to see day and night with that broad mind. Lord Rong became an out-and-out farmer in his hometown and lived with Grandma Rong at home again.

The days passed quietly like this, until the 1980s, when people knew this. Lord Rong was rehabilitated in the south, and the rehabilitated "Lord Rong" could return to the city where he once worked. However, Lord Rong did not go back, and he could not go back either. He could no longer abandon this home.

After more than 30 years, Grandma Rong died peacefully, and "Lord Rong" accompanied her through the last 30 years of her life. "Master Rong" lived quietly in his century-old home alone, accompanied by his dog and kitten. Children sometimes help with the laundry and cooking. The children brought from the south have also worked and settled in the city.

Looking at this old man, I picked up the fragments of memories about "Master Rong". Running a little tired, I went over to chat with "Lord Rong". From my grandfather, to my father, the old man and I talked for a while. I asked,"Grandpa, what are you doing here every day?" How many miles are we from here?" Unexpectedly, my words made the old man feel uneasy and unnatural. I asked again,"Grandpa, what's wrong with you?" "Wait for your grandmother!" I was shocked."Ah! Grandma!" I know my granny Rong died years ago. I'm really afraid that this old man has committed some mental illness. Grandpa, are you really okay?" "Boy, I'm really waiting for your grandmother." Look, over there, the one in red dancing." Following the direction "Lord Rong" pointed, I did see an old lady. Look at that temperament, although the face is a little wrinkled, the skin is very white, the complexion is very good, the figure is also good, the dance is orderly, the rhythm is very close, the movement is very coordinated. You can tell when you're young that you must have some dancing skills. It's not like we're locals. "Are you looking for this new one?" I smiled mysteriously. "Where?" " Master Rong " was a little excited." It's your Uncle Zhong's mother." I finally understood that Uncle Zhong was the child brought by Lord Rong from the south.

Life is so unpredictable. My "glory" 80 years old, the day could have been in such a calm, quiet life. However, no one expected Grandma Rong from the south to come and break his quiet life, reviving his heart that had been silent for so many years. After all, they were former husband and wife. After all, they had a good life. Grandma, after my wife died. It took her a lot of effort to find out where Master Rong was. What made her happy was that the old man was still alive and well, and her son had a family and children. Whether she cared about her son or about "Master Rong", no one knew. All he knew was that she had come from the south and stayed with her son in the city. The old lady is in good health, her voice is soft, and she can't communicate with our local old lady language. Sometimes "Rong Ye" will go to be "interpreter".

Unexpectedly,"Rong Ye" after 50 years of twilight love, or by the hometown children's opposition. Grandma Rong from the south finally failed to go to the century-old residence of "Master Rong". It was the specific history that created the specific life of "Lord Rong". As a cadre going south, he fought with the army and made great achievements in his life. Victory, work in the big city, peace. Who would have thought that a "Cultural Revolution" would separate his wife and children. He had experienced too many tribulations in his life, and he had endured the tragedies of that era. In the old age of life, the husband and wife 50 years ago can meet again, but only in the son's house in the city, see each other, relive the memory in the bottom of my heart. I really hope that this pair of old people who have experienced hardships in life can have a peaceful courtyard for them to stay together; they can have their own sunset, so that they can savor the time together.

After a song, everyone rested. Grandma Rong was sweating profusely and happily walked along the path beside the river with "Lord Rong." The sunset reddened Grandma Rong's white hair and excited face. She held the hand of "Master Rong" as she walked, pointing at the fish swimming in the river and laughing.

The sky was a beautiful sunset, and the sunset lengthened their shadows. See them gradually away from the back, I suddenly remembered Li Shangyin's poem: "sunset infinite good","the world heavy sunny".
