Respect for others is the highest level of self-cultivation

The greatest self-cultivation of people is to learn to respect.

Respect is not submissive or gratuitous praise, let alone flattery.

True respect is from the heart to take each other seriously, is a kind of involuntary noble personality of the natural expression.

01

The higher the level of people, the more respect for others.

At a dinner party, Mark Twain, a famous American satirist, met a rich man and his wife. Out of courtesy, Mark Twain complimented the rich man's wife and said, "Ma'am, you are so beautiful!"

Unexpectedly, the rich man's wife glanced at Mark Twain and said arrogantly that I was sorry that I could not answer you with the same words.

Mark Twain, who is very alert and always sharp-tongued, smiled and replied: it doesn't matter, you can tell lies like me.

How you define others reflects your own self-cultivation. The higher the level of people, the more respect for others.

In fact, in life, this kind of unreasonable happens from time to time, but sometimes it is not so obvious. You and I are mortal, and we have no right to despise and laugh at others with an unstoppable posture.

Arrogance and insolence will hurt others' face, ridicule and disdain, and deal a blow to other people's self-esteem.

Only those who know how to respect, not aggressive, appropriate and considerate language, are worth interacting with.

Being with them, such as smelling faint orchids and seeing green hills in spring, always makes people comfortable and warm.

02

To respect others is to be solemn.

Su Shi is a great talent, and Foyin is an eminent monk. The two often meditate and meditate together. Su Shi is sometimes very happy to take advantage and likes to talk to his talented sister Su Xiaomei.

One day, the two meditated together again.

Su Shi asked: master, what do you think I look like? Foyin said: I think you are like respecting the Buddha. After hearing this, Su Shi laughed and said to Foyin, "you know what I think you look like sitting there?" It's like a pile of cow dung. This time, Foyin suffered a mute loss again.

Su Shi showed off this thing to his little sister when he got home.

Su Xiaomei said to her brother, "you are the only one who can participate in Zen. Do you know what people who participate in Zen pay most attention to?" It's what you see in your heart, and you see it in your heart.

Buddha Yin says that if you look like a Buddha, it shows that he has respect for the Buddha in his heart; you say that the Buddha image is like cow dung, think about what you have in your heart!

Looking at people is like looking in the mirror. All you see is yourself. The world looks at you the way you see it. What you are, what your world is like.

People who do not respect others, first of all, do not respect themselves.

03

True respect is the recognition and understanding of others.

After Zhuge Liang's death, Jiang Kui took office and presided over the imperial government.

Chiang Kai-shek has a subordinate named Yang Opera, who is withdrawn and slow in speech. Every time Chiang Kai-shek talks to him, he just doesn't answer. Some people couldn't bear to see it, so they muttered in front of Chiang Kai-shek, "it's outrageous for Yang Opera to treat you so lightly!"

Chiang Kai-shek smiled calmly and said, "people have their own temperament." It is not in his nature to let Yang Opera praise me face to face; let him say my fault in front of everyone, and he will think that I cannot step down. So he had to be silent. In fact, this is the value of his character.

Everyone is an independent individual, to everything, learn to tolerate, learn to understand, learn to be kind to every decision of others, this is the greatest respect.

As the German classical philosopher Kant said:

I respect any independent soul, although some I do not agree, but I can understand as much as possible.

04

Respect, can reflect a person's character, in the gesture, in the eyes of each other, but also in every word you have said.

Miss Miyagi in the movie "the Grandmaster" once said this.

In this life, people want to see sentient beings, heaven and earth, and themselves.

When I see sentient beings, I understand them, so they are tolerant; when I see heaven and earth, I feel great and small, so I am humble; when I see myself, I feel the id and my true self, so I am open-minded.

A person who really knows how to respect others must be a tolerant, humble and open-minded person. Such people always make people feel warm, just like the air after the rain, fresh and natural, more like a bosom friend for many years, easy to dig out the heart!

Those who win the hearts of the people will be supported by others, and good luck will come to those who are recognized.
